The Bjornlund campaign released an official statement on Dec. 7 denying recent allegations that candidate Tiger Bjornlund has a gambling addiction in which he invested campaign funds.

"These allegations are misguided and unfair," read the statement. "While Tiger has had issues with casino sport in the past, he does not have an addiction and has never been unwise with his money."

While the campaign admits that Bjornlund has had a history of issues with "casino sport" in the past, they claim that Tiger "has been open about his visits with an adviser to move past this activity," and that this rehabilitation has been a success. Bjorlund justified his presence at the casino on Monday as part of a "low-stakes" way of bonding with campaign staff.

"'Accusations of such an addiction are not founded in psychological science,'" the campaign cited an 'expert' Christ P. Lettuce as stating.

However, The Walking Nine has been unable to find any information on Lettuce's credentials as a reputable medical or psychological authority.

The campaign additionally denied insinuations that Bjornlund has used campaign funds to pay off gambling debts as "completely and categorically false", accusing the media and his competitors of bias and sabotage.

"These allegations, raised by the “friend” of an anonymous source and coupled with the unfair physical description of Tiger, are a carefully calculated strategy on the part of other campaigns to take down Tiger with lies and bias," the campaign wrote. "Through four campaigns and four terms as a politician, Tiger has exhibited nothing but the utmost care in his financial dealings and has never used public or campaign funds for private gain."

Though Tiger is only supported by Michigan, according to our latest poll, delegate Sabrina Martin reaffirmed her confidence in Bjornlund's potential.

"A gambling addiction is just like any other addiction; it is a disease, and it needs to be treated, but once it is treated, it doesn't reflect on his character," Martin said. "I will stand by him because I trust his instincts."
